Undated – Late-winter storm brings precipitation, tornado warnings
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A powerful, late-winter storm system has brought a mixed bag of precipitation to Oklahoma, dumping light snow on the Panhandle, rain and a tornado warning for southeast Oklahoma.
The warning was issued for McCurtain County Tuesday afternoon, but emergency management officials and the sheriff's office said there was no confirmation that anything touched down. No injuries or damage were immediately reported.
The weather service issued a tornado watch for 15 eastern Oklahoma counties, but only LeFlore and McCurtain counties remained under the watch by late Tuesday.
Earlier in the day, freezing rain, fog and light snow coated roads in the Panhandle with a thin glaze of ice, causing numerous traffic accidents.
Texas County Sheriff Rick Caddell said one accident required an ambulance but the others weren't as serious.
