Tulsa, OK – Heavy rain will begin to impact parts of northeast Oklahoma by Thursday afternoon and will shift into southeast Oklahoma and northwest Arkansas by early Friday. Widespread rainfall totals of 2 to 5 inches can be expected by Friday afternoon, with local amounts exceeding 7 inches possible.
The prolonged nature of this rainfall event may cause many area rivers and streams to approach or exceed flood stage. In addition, due to the tropical nature of the airmass, extreme rainfall rates are possible and could lead to flash flooding.
A flash flood watch is posted for the area.
