The National Weather Service in Tulsa has issued an Excessive Heat Warning, which is in effect from 11 AM this morning to 9 PM CDT this evening. The Heat Advisory is no longer in effect. * TEMPERATURE...High temperatures in the middle to upper 90s will combine with increased relative humidity values..and will result in heat indices around 110 degrees this afternoon. * IMPACTS...The increasingly hot and humid conditions will increase the potential for heat related illness for much of eastern Oklahoma and west central Arkansas Saturday afternoon and evening. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... An excessive heat warning means that a prolonged period of hot temperatures will occur. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule strenuous activities to early morning or evening. Know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water. To reduce risk during outdoor work, the occupational safety and health administration recommends scheduling frequent rest breaks in shaded or air conditioned environments.
