Oklahoma City, OK – Hospitals restrict young visitors to control flu

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Some hospitals in Oklahoma are placing restrictions on younger visitors in an effort to protect patients from the flu including swine flu.

Edmond Medical Center says most children younger than 18 are not allowed in the hospital unless they're a patient. A child with an immediate family member hospitalized would be allowed inside and asked to wear a face mask.

University of Oklahoma Medical Center spokesman Allen Poston says similar restrictions will begin Thursday at both the Medical Center and The Children's Hospital.

Officials say other hospitals are posting signs asking visitors to stay away if they have flu-like symptoms.
