Guard Choppers Surrounded by Foam

With temperatures near 100-degrees, several Oklahoma National Guard helicopters appear to be snowed-in this afternoon. It is not a mirage. Rather than snow, that white stuff is a fire suppressant.

The suppressant accidently discharged from a hangar at the guard’s helicopter base along Highway 169 at 46th Street North. The foam filled the hangar and then spread onto the flight line.

The foam covered up to the doors on some of the choppers. National Guard Colonel Max Moss says there is no danger from the foam. Moss say the foam is similar to dishwashing foam and no danger to the environment or people.

The Colonel says the helicopters will be thoroughly checked out before they are pressed into service.
