TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The Greenwood Chamber of Commerce has withdrawn from a lawsuit alleging the city of Tulsa and officials favors outside interests over people in north Tulsa.
The Tulsa World reports that the Chamber's economic development arm has also withdrawn as a plaintiff in the $5 million federal suit. Former Greenwood Chamber President Reuben Gant plans to proceed with the lawsuit. Named as defendants are the city of Tulsa, Mayor Dewey Bartlett, City Manager Jim Twombly, former Chief Risk Officer Cathy Criswell and former Director of Grants Dafne Pharis.
Gant and other north Tulsa residents believe the city and the Tulsa Development Authority favor outside interests and that the Development Authorities overprices property to discourage local developers.
Gant recently ended his decade-long association with the Greenwood Chamber of Commerce.
