Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. GOP leaders reveal few details of agenda
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Republican leaders in the Oklahoma House say they plan to support an effort to reduce the state's income tax, but offered few specifics on how such a tax cut might be enacted.
Flanked by more than a dozen GOP leaders, House Speaker Kris Steele on Tuesday outlined some of the over-arching principles of the Republican caucus, but said specific details would be released later.
The 2012 legislative session that begins Feb. 6 will be the last for Steele, R-Shawnee, who is being forced out because of term limits.
House Appropriations and Budget Chairman Earl Sears says there has been little support among the caucus for a bond issue to help finance projects like a Native American museum in Oklahoma City or a backlog of endowed chairs at state universities.
