Oklahoma City, OK – Google to buy wind-generated power for Okla. plant

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Google Inc. has announced plans to buy wind-generated electricity to help power a data center that's to open in northeastern Oklahoma.

The Oklahoman reports the power will be bought from NextEra Energy Resources 100.8 megawatt wind farm being developed in Grady and Caddo counties. Google's plant called a server farm is to open near Pryor later this year.

The Oklahoman reports the agreement is for 20 years. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The server farms are massive clusters of computers which power Google's growing array of online services ranging from Internet searches to e-mail.
