Cushing, OK – Okla. firefighters battle grass fire near Cushing

CUSHING, Okla. (AP) Firefighters battled strong winds and dry conditions to get control of a large grass fire in central Oklahoma.

Authorities say the blaze was reported just before noon Thursday about five miles south of Cushing, but was located in Lincoln County.

Cushing Emergency Management Director R.E. Noltensmeyer said he had received no reports of injuries, but couldn't confirm if any homes or other structures had been damaged.

Noltensmeyer said a helicopter had been dispatched to drop water on the blaze.

It wasn't immediately known how many acres burned in the fire.
