Former State Lawmaker Arrested After Standoff

Tulsa County Sheriff

A man arrested by Tulsa police following a seven-hour standoff after he allegedly threatened to kill his ex-wife has been identified as a former member of the Oklahoma House of Representatives.

John "Chris" Hastings, 59, was arrested at his home in southeast Tulsa late Tuesday for pointing a deadly weapon and resisting arrest.

He did not return phone calls seeking comment.

Police said Hastings had pointed a gun at his ex-wife and told her she was going to die. No one was injured during the incident.

Hastings was elected to the state House in 1995 and served until 2005 when term limits prevented him from seeking re-election.
