Finance Chief says Oklahoma Agency Budgets OK

Preston Doerflinger

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — Oklahoma's finance secretary says state agencies don't have to worry about any impact on their budgets from two attorney general opinions released this week that the transfer of money from two revolving funds was unconstitutional.

In a letter to agency directors on Thursday, Secretary of Finance, Administration and Information Technology Preston Doerflinger says the opinions will not result in a budgetary impact "at this time."

But Doerflinger warns additional opinions or court rulings could lead to some action begin taken.

Attorney General Scott Pruitt's office wrote in formal opinions this week that transfers from two separate revolving funds were unconstitutional.

Budget writers this year swept tens of millions of dollars from revolving accounts at various state agencies to help plug a hole in the budget for the current fiscal year.
