KWGS News

A final report on the 2011 Joplin tornado has been released. The National Institute of Standards and Technology recommends strengthened building designs, public shelters, and more effective emergency communications. Marc Levitan is team leader for the Joplin tornado investigation at NIST. He says the Joplin tornado study is the first to recommend that standards and model codes be adopted for buildings to better resist tornadoes.
