Fighting fires in the heat

By KWGS

Tulsa, OK – The men and women who battle fires in hot summer weather must take special precautions. In addition to drinking lots of water, Tulsa Fire Department spokesman Tim Smallwood says the use of cooling stations is necessary.

Smallwood says crews are also frequently rotated to give firefighters as much of a break as possible in the extreme heat.
