Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma law enforcement agencies are using federal stimulus funds for various needs ranging from buying guns and computers to rehiring laid off officers.
U.S. Justice Department records show more than 100 county and municipal departments were eligible for about $9 million in stimulus funds.
The Oklahoman reported that Oklahoma City has spent nearly $2 million on officers' salaries while Tulsa used the funding to rehire 28 laid off officers. Bartlesville police bought handguns and semi-automatic rifles.
Other departments have bought patrol cars, Tasers, laptop computers, radar equipment and video systems for patrol cars.
