Ponca City, OK – Traffic death of Okla man being investigated

PONCA CITY, Okla. (AP) The Oklahoma Highway Patrol is investigating what caused a fatal single-vehicle accident near Ponca City.

Troopers say 62-year-old Sanford Mauldin was pronounced dead of internal injuries at the scene of the accident about 11:40 a.m. Sunday. There were no passengers.

The patrol says Mauldin's car was headed east on U.S. 60 when it left the road, traveled about 483 feet and struck a small tree.

Troopers don't know why the vehicle left the roadway.

Mauldin was wearing a seat belt.
