GSA

MUSKOGEE, Okla. (AP) — The U.S. Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Oklahoma collected more than $3.2 million in criminal and civil fines in the federal fiscal year that ended on Sept. 30.

U.S. Attorney Mark Green said Friday that his office collected $417,196 in criminal actions for the year and more than $2.8 million in civil actions.

In addition, Green says his office, working with partner agencies and divisions, collected $852,749 in asset forfeiture actions during the year. Forfeited assets deposited into the Department of Justice Assets Forfeiture Fund are used to restore funds to crime victims and for a variety of law enforcement purposes.

Nationally, the U.S. Justice Department says it collected about $24.7 billion in civil and criminal fines during the year.
