Caney, OK – Okla man killed in dump truck-train collision

CANEY, Okla. (AP) Authorities say an Atoka man was killed and a train conductor was slightly injured when the man's dump truck collided with a train at an Atoka County intersection.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 66-year-old George Wendell Maxey was driving the truck north on Folsom Road when the vehicle slowed but failed to yield to the Union Pacific train at a railroad crossing about 9 a.m. Thursday.

Maxey was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. Conductor Terrance Washington was treated at an Atoka hospital for a minor leg injury and released.

No one else on the train was hurt.
