The City of Tulsa’s contract to house inmates in the Tulsa County jail expires at the end of next month. An agreement between the city and the county has never been easy.

The county wants to use a $64  per-day/per inmate charge. Mayor Bartlett says that is a substantial increase.

DEWEY BARTLETT: "If that is the case, we need to have a very through audit to justify what is being said. Otherwise, I don't see any reason to go down that road."

The $64 figure is from a jail operation review by the MGT research firm. That project was approved by the Criminal Justice Authority. Mayor Bartlett is on that Authority.
