Tulsa, OK – Ex-Okla police chief address alleged corruption

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Tulsa's former police chief says he accepts some of the criticism about the atmosphere in the police department that may have allowed some police officers to commit illegal acts.

Ron Palmer told the Tulsa World that he's not at fault for the actions of the officers who have been accused of crimes, but he does feel partly responsible for the culture within the department that developed. His Jan. 22 resignation wasn't related to the corruption probe.

Palmer says there are guidelines for undercover operations and they are continually improved to meet daily police operations, but enforcement is key.

A federal grand jury accused four present and one retired police officer of various crimes, including perjury and civil rights violations.
