Civil Charges Filed in Victory Case

A lawsuit is filed in Tulsa District Court against the Victory Christian Center. It is the latest twist to a growing scandal at one of the largest churches in Tulsa.

In the lawsuit, by the mother of a reported rape victim is suing the church, seeking in excess of $75,000 in damages. The mother claims her 13-year-old daughter was raped and church staff deliberately delayed notifying police so it could do damage control.

20-year-old Chris Denman was charged with the rape and was fired from the church staff. Denman is also named in the lawsuit. Five other staffers were later arrested for failing to file a timely police report.

The suit claims the church knew about the attack two weeks before the mother was notified. It goes on to claim church staff blamed the 13-year-old for the attack.
