Chickasaw Nation Seeking Nominations for Woman of the Year

Karen Goodnight

The Chickasaw Nation is accepting nominations for the 2015 Dynamic Woman of the Year Award.

Established in 2006, the award honors Chickasaw women who have made significant contributions to the Oklahoma-based tribe, served as role models to other Chickasaw women and have made a difference in the lives of Chickasaws and other citizens.

Women considered for the award are distinguished pioneers in their professional field, have championed other women and women's issues and have upheld Chickasaw values, culture and traditions.

Last year's recipient was Dr. Karen Goodnight of Goldsby. Goodnight's distinguished career has been dedicated to improving educational opportunities for Chickasaw citizens. She has also spent many years training tribal leaders and enhancing economic opportunities for the Chickasaw Nation.

The deadline to submit nominations for the award is Aug. 21.
