Chickasaw Nation Partners with Rosetta Stone to Revitalize Native Language

KWGS News File Photo

The Chickasaw Nation has joined forces with Rosetta Stone Inc.  to help preserve the tribes native language. The Chickasaw Nation governor Bill Anoatubby first announced the program's release in his State of the Union address last month. Rosetta Stone will help to create a new customized program to allow the more than the nation's 60,000 global citizens to be introduced to the language.

Joshua Hinson, director of the Chickasaw Nation Revitalization Program, notes that there are less than 50 native speakers of the Chickasaw language. He says the language preservation will revitalize the language, educate its people and preserve the nation's heritage for future generations. The program will have a total of 80 lessons. The first 40 are expected to be delivered in the fall of 2016.
