Tulsa, OK – Charge dropped against Tulsa elementary principal

TULSA, Okla. (AP) An obstructing police charge against a Tulsa elementary school principal has been dropped.

The city prosecutor says the charge against Lynette Dixon was dismissed Tuesday "in the interest of justice."

The decision comes after an email from Tulsa Public Schools Police Chief Gary Rudick to city police became public. It called Dixon "a real problem" and said to make sure prosecutors were on board.

Dixon's attorney Richard O'Carroll provided the email to the Tulsa World.

Dixon was arrested March 7 for allegedly arguing with police who were arresting her daughter's boyfriend. She was suspended with pay. School Superintendent Keith Ballard told the newspaper he has just learned the charge was dropped and had no other comment.

Rudick has issued a statement saying the comments were his personal opinion.
