Bartlesville Woman Drowns in Single-Vehicle Crash

BARTLESVILLE, Okla. (AP) — Authorities say a Bartlesville woman was killed after her car crashed into a creek in Washington County.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says the wreck happened Sunday night on a county road near Bartlesville. According to a preliminary report, 44-year-old Sherry Hockett crossed the center line as she negotiated a curve on a county road.

The highway patrol says Hockett swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle, then overcorrected and drove off the road. Her car partially overturned, trapping her inside.

The highway patrol says Hockett was pronounced dead at the scene and that she may have drowned. A passenger in her car wasn't injured.
