An Oklahoma City attorney has filed a lawsuit over the issuance of bonds to fund construction of several turnpikes around the state.
Attorney Jerry Fent filed the lawsuit Friday with the Oklahoma City Supreme Court.
Fent maintains a state law passed in 1987 that authorizes the construction of turnpikes conflicts with a constitutional requirement that laws deal with only one subject. A hearing is set for next month.
A spokesman for the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority said the agency has not seen a copy of the lawsuit and declined to comment.
State officials last year announced plans to issue $900 million worth of bonds during the next few years to expand and renovate Oklahoma's turnpike system.
The first phase of bond issues is scheduled to be considered next week.
