Oklahoma City, OK – Deadline approaching for disaster aid in Oklahoma

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The deadline is approaching to apply for disaster assistance for residents of several Oklahoma counties who had uninsured losses because of storms and floods in May.

Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management Director Albert Ashwood said that business owners and home owners and renters in Caddo, Canadian, Delaware, Grady, Kingfisher, Logan, McClain and Ottawa counties have until Friday, Aug. 5, to apply.

The assistance may include grants from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help individuals pay rent and for uninsured home repairs, personal property replacement and to reimburse medical, storage and other disaster-related expenses. Low interest loans may also be available from the U.S. Small Business Administration.

A presidential disaster declaration was signed June 6 for the counties after the May 22 thru 25 storms.
