5-Year-Old Boy Falls from a Moving Oklahoma School Bus

VANOSS, Okla. (AP) — A Vanoss family says a 5-year-old boy wasn't seriously injured when he fell out of a moving school bus.

But the parents of Trenton Barger are questioning why their son was sitting on the front steps of the bus as the vehicle traveled down a paved county road last week.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says Trenton somehow fell through the front doors of the bus as it rounded a curve.

Superintendent Janet Blocker says the incident is under investigation and that the driver involved is a certified employee who's had no prior incidents.

Trenton's mother, Teri Powers, tells The Ada News that the school should have called 911 after the incident. She says she took her son to the hospital, where he received a CAT scan and was treated for cuts and abrasions.
