2 More Cases of West Nile Found in Oklahoma

KWGS News

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The Oklahoma State Department of Health says two more cases of West Nile have been reported in Oklahoma, bringing the total to four so far this summer.

The agency said Thursday that Ellis and Mayes counties have recorded two infections in humans this year. Tulsa and Major counties have each reported one case of West Nile in 2014.

No deaths have been reported so far this year.

On Wednesday, health officials in Oklahoma County confirmed that a mosquito tested positive for the disease in the state's largest county, but no human infections have been recorded there this year.

There were 84 cases of West Nile virus in Oklahoma last year and eight deaths.
