16-year-old Girl Dead After Drive-by Shooting in Tulsa

KWGS News-File photo

Police are searching for a suspect after a 16-year-old girl was fatally shot in what authorities say is a gang-related incident.

Police Sgt. Dave Walker says the girl was a passenger in a car driven by an 18-year-year old Friday afternoon on the city's north side when a van pulled up alongside it. Walker says the van's door opened and a man began firing into the car before driving away.

Authorities found both teenagers shot and took them to a local hospital, where the girl died.

Walker says the car hit by gunfire on Friday had also been shot at in June.

Police say an ongoing feud between four Tulsa street gangs has led to a recent string of shootings throughout the city and a spike in aggravated assault reports.
