State Foreclosures Down

Associated Press – Report: Foreclosures down in Oklahoma

TULSA, Okla. (AP) A new report says Oklahoma had significantly fewer foreclosures in the first half of 2009 than it did during the same period last year.

The report by RealtyTrac, a California-based real estate data service, says about 5,609 homes faced foreclosure from January through June, down 27 percent from the same period in 2008.

Powerful Storms Slam Oklahoma

Oklahoma City, OK – Thousands still without power

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Nearly 10,000 Oklahoma Gas & Electric Co. customers remain without power after strong thunderstorms hit central Oklahoma.

OG&E's reports on its Web sit that 9.793 customers were still in the dark Friday morning after the Thursday afternoon storm. More than 29,500 customers were without power at the height of the storm.

Outages are also reported in Bokchito, Ardmore and Blue.

Tulsa, OK – Tulsa Police have arrested 22-year-old Christopher Jacob Stefanelli in connection with this week's bomb hoax at the Schuesterman Jewish Community Center. Tulsa Police Officer Leland Ashley says it was brought on by a domestic dispute between Stfanelli and his partner.

Welcome Home

Tulsa, OK – Two hours of music, free ice cream and refreshments and other activites are planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday as Tulsa Mayor Kathy Taylor and the Jack C. Montgomery Veterans Medical Center and a host of veterans' organizations join to stage "Welcome Home Day."

"We want military personnel and veterans and their families to know we appreciate their work and the sacrifices they make," said Mayor Taylor. "We created the Veterans Advisory Council as soon as I took office, and we have implemented many programs to help military members and veterans and their families."

Tulsa, OK – Trucker's cruise control set below limit

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Investigators say the truck driver involved in a collision that left 10 dead on the Will Rogers Turnpike had his cruise control set below the 75 mile-per-hour speed limit.

Oklahoma Highway Patrol Capt. Scott Horton says investigators are seeking the medical and cell phone records of truck driver Donald Creed, 76, of Willard, Mo., to determine if he was distracted.

Henryetta, OK – Fallen Henryetta sailor laid to rest

HENRYETTA, Okla. (AP) A fallen Oklahoma sailor killed by a roadside bomb in Afghanistan has been laid to rest in Weleetka.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Tony Michael Randolph was remembered Wednesday during a funeral service at the First Baptist Church in Henryetta, where the 22-year-old grew up and graduated from high school.

Randolph's high school football coach Kenny Speer eulogized the young sailor, his voice often cracking with emotion as he spoke.

Tulsa, OK – Man arrested for impersonating Tulsa firefighter

TULSA, Okla. (AP) A man wanted for impersonating a Tulsa firefighter at the scene of a deadly accident has been arrested by the Tulsa County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities say 22-year-old Joel Lack flashed a badge and said he had paramedic experience when he arrived at the scene of the July 9 crash that killed two bicyclists near Sand Springs.
