OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Gov. Brad Henry has vetoed two bills, including one calling for additional penalties for those who commit workers' compensation fraud.

Henry signed 16 other bills into law late Tuesday.

Kansas Plane Crash

Baxter Springs, Kansas – Small plane makes emergency landing in SE Kansas

BAXTER SPRINGS, Kan. (AP) Authorities say an Oklahoma pilot was unhurt after making an emergency landing of his small plane in a southeast Kansas field.

The Kansas Highway Patrol identifies the pilot in Tuesday morning's incident as 47-year-old Toby Angel, of Stillwater.

Trooper Sage Hill says Angel was at about 4,000 feet and beginning his approach to Missouri's Joplin Regional airport when the plane's engine "basically exploded."

Tulsa, OK – The City is moving forward with the sale of old City Hall to Brickhuggers. Brickhuggers is the same firm that renovated the old Mayo Hotel. The plans include turning the building into a 200-room hotel.

The company has offered the city one-million dollars for the building, as is. It was appraised at $6.4-million. However, this is the only offer the city has received on the property.

Revenue Collections UP

Oklahoma City, OK – State revenue collections in March topped prior year collections for the first time since December 2008 and exceeded the official estimate for a second consecutive month, State Treasurer Scott Meacham announced today.

Preliminary reports show General Revenue Fund collections in March are $401.3 million. That amount is:

$6.4 million or 1.6 percent above the prior year; and,
$81.4 million or 25.5 percent above the estimate.

Tribal Rehearing?

Tulsa, OK – Osage chief confident case will be reheard

TULSA, Okla. (AP) The chief of the Osage Nation says he's confident a federal appeals court will rehear a case that could affect three of the tribe's casinos.

The court recently upheld a ruling that Osage County is not a tribal reservation. The ruling leaves casinos in Tulsa, Skiatook and Ponca City not on land that is in trust or under federal restricted status as is required.

Oklahoma City, OK – OSSAA: More study of public-private proposals

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Oklahoma Secondary School Activities Association has sent back to committee a proposal on how non-public high schools in the state are classified for athletic competition.

The board met Tuesday to consider the proposal from a 17-person committee that examined perceived inequities between public schools and private and other non-public schools.

The board eventually voted to have the committee conduct further study on the issue.

Oklahoma City, OK – Mexican congressman criticizes Oklahoma law

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A Mexican congressman wants that country's governmental agencies to stop buying products from Oklahoma because of a law passed last year imposing new fees on wire money transfers.

The Oklahoma lawmakers who wrote the bill fired back on Monday, saying they will consider even stricter laws targeting illegal immigrants in Oklahoma.
