Oklahoma Taiwan Relations

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Gov. Brad Henry is meeting with a Taiwanese provincial governor to celebrate a 30-year sister-state relationship with Oklahoma.

A ceremony is set for Thursday afternoon at the state Capitol with Henry and Taiwan Province Gov. Jung-Tzer (JUN'-zer) Lin.

Oklahoma's sister-state relationship with Taiwan Province was established in 1980.

Pink, OK – Okla. deputy shot 4 times, escapes serious injury

PINK, Okla. (AP) Authorities are still searching for three men in a pickup truck after a Pottawatomie County deputy was shot four times.

Sheriff Mike Booth said Wednesday night that the deputy's bulletproof vest prevented serious injury when he was shot during a traffic stop near Pink about 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Crash Landing in Southeast Oklahoma

Idabel, OK – Plane with parachute lands safely after power loss

IDABEL, Okla. (AP) Two Ohio men escaped injury when the parachute-equipped airplane they were flying lost power and crash-landed in southeastern Oklahoma.

Idabel Police Capt. John Martin says pilot Charles Reynolds and passenger Charles Miller walked away unharmed after the plane landed in a field about 4:30 p.m. Monday. Martin says the two attorneys from Cincinnati were returning home from Texas when the plane lost power at about 11,000 feet.

Tulsa, OK – Missing Okla mother, 5 children found safe

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Tulsa police say a woman and her children who hadn't been seen since Aug. 6 have been found safe in South Dakota.

Investigators were concerned about Monya Battiest and her five children, who range in age from 10 months old to 7 years old. Officer Leland Ashley said Wednesday tribal police located the family in Interior, S.D.

Services Planned

Weleetka,OK – OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Funeral services are this morning in Okmulgee for four of six people who died in a house fire earlier this week in Weleetka. Services for 45-year-old Renee Buck, 32-year-old LaToya Renee Bush, 9-year-old Kurstyn Pelegrin and 10-year-old Triston Pelegrin begin at 10:30. Services for 3-year-old James Southern and 2-year-old Barbara Southern are pending.

Vietnam Vet Finally Home

Tulsa, OK – A military honor guard stands at attention as the remains of Army Chief Warrant Officer Donald Wann is unloaded from a plane at Tulsa International Airport this afternoon.

Wann was killed in Vietnam, 39-years ago. His remains were only recently identified through testing done in Hawaii.

His family plans a celebration of his life Saturday at the Southeast Baptist Church in Muskogee.It will begin at 10 A.M.

Hungry Tulsans Receive Aid

Tulsa, Okla. – Relief organizations are active in Tulsa these days, even with reports that the recession is lifting. Hunger-relief organization Feed the Children recognizes the need some families face after months of holding on.

Three semi trucks in its Americans Feeding Americans caravan stopped in Tulsa today to deliver food, amenities and Avon products to needy families.
