Oklahoma City, OK – Deal reached in Okla. inmate's execution request

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A federal judge has dismissed a filing by a converted Buddhist to have his spiritual adviser present in the death chamber when he is put to death Thursday.

The request by Donald Ray Wackerly was thrown out Wednesday after Wackerly's attorney said a compromise was reached with prison officials.

EARTHQUAKE-Update

Tulsa, OK – Earthquake rattles parts of Oklahoma

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) Two people were taken to a Norman hospital with apparent minor injuries after an earthquake rattled central Oklahoma and was felt in southern Kansas.

Emergency Medical Services Authority spokeswoman Lara O'Leary said one man fell off a ladder during the Wednesday morning quake and is in good condition. She said she did not have details on the second person's injuries but that the person is in good condition.

State Revenue Increase

Oklahoma City, OK – Revenue collections for the first three months of the fiscal year exceeded both the prior year and official estimate, State Treasurer Scott Meacham said today as reports for the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2011 were released.

Preliminary reports show General Revenue Fund collections for the first quarter of Fiscal Year 2011 are $1.2 billion. That amount is:

$74.8 million or 6.8 percent above the prior year; and
$45.4 million or 4 percent above the official estimate.

Kids at Risk When Mom Goes to Prison

Oklahoma City, OK –

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) A report by the Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy says children whose mothers are in prison are five times more likely to end up in prison themselves.

The annual Kids Count Factbook released Tuesday says those children also often leave children behind when they are incarcerated perpetuating the cycle.

Tulsa, OK – The Tulsa City Council hears a proposal from one of its own dealing with changing the Tulsa City Charter. Councilor Roscoe Turner is proposing creating the position of City Manager to run the day-to-day operations of the city and to serve as the City's CEO.

Currently, Tulsa has a strong mayor/weak council form of government. Turners change would make the mayor a figure head while strengthening the role of the city council in hiring a manager.

Third Victim Dies

Tulsa, OK – 3rd victim in shooting at Tulsa hotel dies

TULSA, Okla. (AP) A third victim of a Tulsa hotel shooting last week has died.

Police confirmed that 20-year-old Toni Ruff died at a Tulsa hospital over the weekend. He was shot last Thursday night at a Days Inn hotel in east-central Tulsa. The others fatally shot were 23-year-old Joey Deon Mike and 19-year-old Jermiko Thomas.

No arrests had been made as of Monday night.
