Council Tells Bartlett No

Tulsa, OK – The Tulsa City Council votes to deny the mayor's reimbursement for a Washington D-C trip. The trip was made for by the Tulsa Community foundation and given directly to the mayor---by passing city council oversight.

The mayor plans to return the seven thousand dollars and will consult with the city attorney on his next step.

Tulsa, OK – TULSA, Okla. (AP) -- Former Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge delivered a lecture on energy independence at the University of Tulsa Thursday.

Ridge, the former governor of Pennsylvania, became the country's first homeland security chief in 2003 after the events of September 11, 2001.

He served as Pennsylvania's governor from 1995 to 2001 and was a six-term congressman before that.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Gov.-elect Mary Fallin says she will not endorse across-the-board cuts to state agencies as leaders grapple with a massive hole in next year's state budget.

Fallin said Wednesday after a chamber event in Oklahoma City that she supports "targeted, thoughtful reductions in spending" as lawmakers deal with an expected shortfall when they return to the Capitol in February.

New research shows the Community School model in Tulsa is working. The data was presented in a news conference yesterday at the Roy Clark Elementary School. It was produced by O-U professor Doctor Curt Adams.

The goal of a community school is to unite academics with families, school and community to create a web of support that nurtures the development of children and adults.
