Oklahoma City, OK – Fallin's ideas designed to soften Okla. budget cuts

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) If Oklahoma legislators elect to ignore Gov. Mary Fallin's plan to shield education, health care and public safety from deep cuts in next year's state budget, they'll have to develop their own ideas for dealing with an expected $600 million shortfall.

Fallin is proposing the consolidation of state agencies and services, shifting to a two-year system on car tags and issuing bonds to pay for transportation and other projects.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) An Oklahoma County judge appointed to the state Supreme Court says she'll wait until after a legal challenge is settled before taking her oath of office.

Former Gov. Brad Henry appointed Noma Gurich to the Supreme Court three days before his term expired on Jan. 10. He selected Gurich from three candidates submitted by the Judicial Nominating Commission.

Workers to Be Paid

Tulsa, OK – 700 Tulsa County workers to be paid for snow days

TULSA, Okla. (AP) Tulsa County officials say about 700 employees will be paid for five days they did not work because recent snowstorms resulted in the closure of county offices.

Officials tell the Tulsa World the payments will cost the county about $575,000. County Commission chairman Fred Perry says the workers are being paid because the decision to close the county administration building was made by management.

Oklahoma Lottery Winner Sought

Tulsa, OK – Oklahoma Mega Millions winner sought


TULSA, Okla. (AP) The Oklahoma Lottery is looking for the owner of a winning Mega Millions ticket. The ticket is worth $250,000.

The winning ticket from the Feburary 4th drawing. It was sold at the Pop Shoppi in Dewey, in Washington County.

The numbers drawn for Mega Millions were 10, 12, 13, 35, 56 and the Mega Ball number was 9. The Megaplier multiplier was 4.

Officials say the winning ticket matched five of five white balls for a $250,000 prize.

Underwood Husband Traded

Nashville, TN – Underwood: husband's trade 'exciting opportunity'

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) So long, long distance. Newlyweds Carrie Underwood and NHL player Mike Fisher soon will be living together full time in Nashville.

The Ottawa Senators traded Fisher to the Nashville Predators for two draft picks.

Underwood tells The Associated Press in a statement that they will both miss Ottawa.

The Oklahoma native says Fisher has been a big part of the community, and she'll never forget how they welcomed her with open arms.

Coach Charged

Tulsa. OK – Okla basketball coach pleads not guilty to DUI

TULSA, Okla. (AP) The coach of the boys' basketball team at Tulsa Washington has pleaded not guilty to misdemeanor charges of aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol and unsafe lane use.

Attorney Danny C. Williams appeared in Tulsa County District Court Friday on behalf of his client, Shea Seals.
