Teen Pregnancy Impact

Tulsa, OK – An Oklahoma group says teen pregnancies cost taxpayers in the state $190 million in 2008. The Oklahoma Institute for Child Advocacy says information released yesterday indicates there were more than 75-hundred births to Oklahoma teens in 2008. 21-percent of those births were to teens who were already mothers.

Tornado Death Tolls Rise

Undated – Authorities say another victim has died as a result of the May 24th tornado outbreak, bringing the death toll to 11.

Ron Martin was injured near Fairview and died at an Oklahoma City hospital yesterday from injuries he sustained in the storm.

Meanwhile, the death toll from the Joplin tornado also continues to increase. It now stands at 150.

Summer Cafe

Tulsa, OK – Over 80-percent of Tulsa Public School children are on the free or reduced lunch program. But, what do those students do when school is out?

Well, many would go hungry if not for the TPS Summer Caf Program. The program provides breakfast and lunch to people 18-and younger.

Corbin Anderson heads up the program. The program has been around for 30-years and last year it served over 156-thousand summer time meals.

Police Trial to Go to Jury

10th Circuit Court

Tulsa, OK – The Federal Tulsa Police Corruption case could go to the jury later today.

Closing arguments and instructions to the jury are expected by this afternoon.

In testimony yesterday, Officer Bruce Bonham took the stand and denied he ever pocketed drug money or planted evidence. He and Officer Nick DeBruin and retired Corporal Harold Wells are on trial after being indicted by a federal grand jury.

Audit of BA Schools

Broken Arrow, OK – Attorney General Scott Pruitt and State Auditor and Inspector Gary Jones today released an investigatory audit of Broken Arrow Public Schools. The audit, which was requested by the Attorney General's Office in late 2010, outlines several allegations of competitive bidding act violations and malfeasance by public officials.

The audit is the second review of Broken Arrow Public Schools by the state auditor and was requested by the Attorney General's Office after an initial audit was deemed unsatisfactory.

Quality Jobs Program

Oklahoma City, OK – 7 companies join Oklahoma Quality Jobs Program

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Seven new companies are joining the Oklahoma Quality Jobs Program and officials say the companies will bring a combined 365 new jobs to the state.

The state Department of Commerce says the companies are Reliance Pressure Control LLC of Elk City, Saltus Technologies LLC of Tulsa, The Crosby Group LLC of Tulsa, Stan Johnson Co. of Tulsa, Electrical Power Systems Inc. of Tulsa, Long Wave Inc. of Oklahoma City and KCI Enterprises Inc. of Ponca City.
