Hearings for 5 Church Employees Postponed

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Hearings for five employees of a Tulsa megachurch accused of waiting more than two weeks to report the alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl have been rescheduled.

Victory Christian Center employees John Daugherty, Charica Daugherty, Paul Willemstein, Anna George and Harold "Frank" Sullivan, face allegations that they didn't report the complaint in a timely manner.

Prosecutors say the girl told employees Aug. 15 she had been raped, but police weren't notified until Aug. 30

Arraignment Reset for Victory Rape Suspect

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — An ex-employee of a Tulsa megachurch accused of raping a 13-year-old girl and other sex crimes will be arraigned in district court next week.

Twenty-year-old Chris Denman, who worked at Victory Christian Center, faces charges of raping the 13-year-old on the ministry's campus in August.

He's also charged with molesting a 15-year-old girl and making a lewd proposal to a 12-year-old girl.

A judge on Monday reset Denman's hearing date until Oct.29

Group Blasts Tulsa Church Involved in Abuse Case

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A clergy abuse watchdog group is accusing a Tulsa megachurch of doing damage control to protect the ministry's image instead of showing concern for a 13-year-old girl who was allegedly raped on its property.

Barbara Dorris, the outreach director for the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, said Thursday that ministers at Victory Christian Center "put their reputation ahead of the safety of the children."

Five Victory employees are facing misdemeanor charges of waiting two weeks to report the alleged rape. They've pleaded not guilty.
