Tulsa schools begin classes next week, and some suburban districts have already begun. Tulsa Police remind drivers those school zones will be active once again. Sgt. Shane Tuel says they will be patrolled closely and there’s no tolerance for speeding motorists, or those going around stopped school buses with lights flashing.

The speed limit in school zones when sign lights are flashing is 25mph.

'The Cos' Talks Education in Tulsa

Comedian Bill Cosby addresses the students at Tulsa’s Washington High School. He spoke to Juniors and Seniors, as well as city officials and Cherokee Chief Bill John Baker about the importance of a quality education.

He told students not to be afraid of getting an education. He also offered praise for the role teachers and principals play in the education process.

The Tulsa School Board goes on the record seeking the state to restore school funding. The board passed a resolution calling on the state legislature to quit slashing funding. Tulsa School superintendent Dr. Keith Ballard says the Tulsa district has lost over $23-million dollars in funding in the last three year.
