Robbery Gang Busted and Indicted

    U.S. Attorney Thomas Scott Woodward announced that a federal Grand Jury returned a Superseding Indictment against eight gang members charging them with conspiracy, multiple robberies and use of firearms during and in commission of the robberies charged.  The Grand Jury’s Superseding Indictment names Vernon James Hill, age 26, Christopher Darnell Lewis, age 23, Deandre Antonio Hopkins, age 22, Marquis Deron Devers, age 23, Dontayne Dejay Tiger,age 22, James Miller, age 23,  Kenneth Lee Hopkins, age 23, and Dejuan Legmar Hill, age 23, all of Tulsa.

Police: Tulsa Man Arrested after Car Chase while High

An ex-convict may be headed back to prison. 38-year-old Donald Broomhall has been arrested on drug related and auto theft charges in Tulsa.

He was arrested last night after crashing a car into a house near 5th and Pittsburg. Broomhall led officers on a chase through mid-town.  Officers used a stun gun to subdue him after the car crashed into the house.

The car he was driving was reported stolen earlier in the day.

He did time in 2001 for a felony drug conviction.

In the booking report, he admitted to officers he was addicted to meth.

Fake Cops target Hispanics


Tulsa Police are searching for some fake cops who robbed a man at the Bristol Park Apartments on East 45th Street South. 

Authorities say a man noticed he was being followed to his home at the apartments around midnight Sunday. Two men in a van got out and approached him.

The victim said the two men appeared to be law officers. They carried guns and radios and had badges attached to their belts.

Police say"Clearly they were impersonating officers.”

The fake cops are apparently targeting Hispanics, a group that detectives say often carry a lot of cash.

Homicides Averaging One Per Week in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — The number of homicides in Tulsa in the first half of 2012 puts the city on pace to challenge last year's seven-year low. The Tulsa World reports the city saw 26 killings this year through June 30, compared to 25 during the same period last year. There were 53 homicides in all of 2011, marking the lowest number since 2004. The newspaper says that if the pace holds, the city could finish this year with three annual declines since it had a record 71 killings in 2009.

Tulsa Police Seek Suspects after 'Fireworks War'

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — Tulsa police are looking for a group of people who shot off fireworks directly at officers and a television news crew.

Tulsa television station KOTV says it's the second time this week that police have been hit with fireworks. The latest incident happened at about 10:30 p.m. in north Tulsa.

Police say the group fired mortars and Roman candles at officers and a news crew. Authorities say one officer was hit in the back and a reporter was struck in the back of the head.

No one was seriously injured.

Mental Exam Ordered for Tulsa Shooting Suspect

TULSA, Okla. (AP) — A judge has ordered a psychiatric examination for a man charged with shooting two people outside of the Tulsa County courthouse.

Attorneys for Andrew Dennehy requested that the evaluation be conducted July 12, and a judge in Tulsa granted that request last week. Dennehy is charged with shooting with intent to kill and reckless conduct with a firearm in connection with the March 7 shootings. He has pleaded not guilty.

Suspect Arrested In Home Invasion

A would-be burglar is in Tulsa Police custody after allegedly breaking into a home near 7th and South Maplewood. The homeowner spotted the burglar in the house, about 7:15 this morning and fired a shot at him. The homeowner ran out of the house while the suspect ran into the bathroom and locked the door.

Police closed  several streets around the house.  The Special Operations Team was called out to aid the officers. Police negotiators  talked the man into surrendering. He was taken into custody about 8:30 this morning.

Home Invasion in North Tulsa

The police helicopter buzzes the area just north of the TU campus this morning. It was aiding in the search for suspects in a home invasion.

The suspects were armed and threatened to kill the residents, including some children,  if they did not cooperate.

No one was hurt, but the robbers did take a television set and a Ford pick-up.

Shots fired outside a South Tulsa Quik Trip

One person is assaulted with a baseball bat, another shot at a Quik Trip parking lot in South Tulsa. Police Officer Leland Ashley says some sort of confrontation between two groups took place at a store at 51st and Yale, then moved to a second Quik Trip near 71st and Mingo…

Several shots were fired. The person hit was taken to a hospital and at last report was in critical condition. Ashley says it’s lucky no innocent bystander was hit by gunfire with the shooting occurring in such a public place.

Man Shot Outside of Tulsa Bank

A man is shot outside of an East Tulsa Bank. It happened this morning at the Bank of America on 31st near Highway 169.

Tulsa Police say the man was talking to his EX-girl friend when her current boy friend pulled up. He pulled out a gun and shot the man in the leg. He and the woman then drove away.

The man was taken to the hospital and is expected to recover.
