Temple Israel

On this edition of ST, we learn about the remarkable ongoing work of one Father Patrick Desbois, a Catholic priest and Vatican consultant who's also the founder and president of Yahad-In Unum, an international organization that has thus far interviewed more than 5,300 eyewitnesses of Jewish and Roma executions by Nazi mobile units at more than 2,100 sites across Eastern Europe.

On this edition of our program, we're pleased to speak with the distinguished orchestra conductor, scholar, and educator Leon Botstein, who has been the president of Bard College since 1975. Botstein will deliver the annual Frank Memorial Lecture in Judaism and Contemporary Issues here in Tulsa on Sunday the 7th at 7:30pm.

Tomorrow night (Thursday the 19th) at 7pm, Temple Israel in Tulsa (at 2004 East 22nd Place, near Utica Square) will host the 15th Annual Interfaith Holocaust Commemoration; this year's commemoration is entitled "Why Memory Matters: Israel's Yad Vashem." The featured speaker at this event will be Dr. Mordecai Paldiel, the former director of the Department of the Righteous at Yad Vashem, which is Israel’s Holocaust authority. Dr. Paldiel, who's also our guest today on ST, is a leading authority on rescue during the Holocaust.
