Plenty of Growth in Store for the Tulsa Botanic Garden (Formerly the OK Centennial Botanical Garden)

Aired on Wednesday, July 17th.

On this installment of our show, we welcome back Dr. Todd Lasseigne, President and CEO of the Tulsa Botanic Garden (which is the new name for the nonprofit facility formerly known as the Oklahoma Centennial Botanical Garden). Then, at about 5pm, the music gets underway --- and live, festive, free-to-the-public music (of all kinds, for all tastes) is a big part of what this Opening Weekend for Guthrie Green is all about.

Closed Rec Centers to be Demolished next Month

The sign welcomes you, but plywood covers the door.
KWGS News

The wrecking ball is coming to seven Tulsa Park and Recreation Centers. The long closed facilities will be demolished because the upkeep has outstripped the property’s worth. The centers are: Clark, Franklin, Heller, Manion, Maxwell, Turner and Zeigler.

Mayor Bartlett says the centers will be replaced with other park amenities, such as splash pads, pavilions, walking trails, benches and security lighting.

Most of the centers also have swimming pools which will also be filled.
