Tulsa, OK – Oklahoma City marks 15 years since bombing

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Survivors and family members of those who died in the Oklahoma City bombing gathered this morning to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the attack.

U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, former Governor Frank Keating and current Governor Brad Henry were among those who spoke at the ceremony.

Regulating the Taser

Tulsa, OK –

TULSA, Okla. (AP) The Tulsa County Sheriff's Office is making changes to its policy on Tasers to better track their use.

Undersheriff Brian Edwards says deputies and jailers will be required to test-fire the stun guns at squad meetings. The use of Tasers will also be audited every 90 days to better track the testing and use of the weapons.

Okmulgee, OK – Firings put on hold plans for Tulsa-Jenks span

OKMULGEE, Okla. (AP) Plans for a Muscogee (Creek) Nation company to build a toll bridge spanning the Arkansas River between Jenks and south Tulsa have been put on hold.

Principal Chief A.D. Ellis said any such plans have been postponed in the wake of his dismissal earlier this week of the firm's CEO and chief operating officer, plus its board.

Ellis said the businesses and assets of the tribe's Trade and Commerce Authority had been grossly mismanaged.

LAWTON, Okla. (AP) U.S. Sen. Jim Inhofe said a treaty signed by President Barack Obama and Russian leader Dmitry Medvedev to limit nuclear weapons faces a hard battle in the Senate, "and I'll lead the opposition to it."

Inhofe, R-Okla., visited Lawton Friday for a dedication of a new facility at nearby Fort Sill.

Oklahoma Unemployment Down

Oklahoma City, OK – Okla. unemployment rate declines


OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Oklahoma's unemployment rate declined in March but was still higher than the jobless rate during the same period in 2009.

The Oklahoma Employment Security Commission reported Friday that March's unemployment rate was 6.6 percent, down from 6.8 percent in February. According to the commission, there were 117,740 people who were out of work last month.

Fatal Tulsa School Bus Wreck

Tulsa, OK – 1 killed in collision involving school bus


TULSA, Okla. (AP) Authorities say the driver of a pickup truck was killed and six others, including five children, were hurt when the truck collided with a school bus in north Tulsa.

The accident occurred about 2:45 p.m. Friday.

Emergency Medical Services Authority spokesman Chris Stevens says the driver of the truck, whose name hasn't been released, died.
