Sperry, OK – Flames destroyed a Sperry home Friday afternoon, and with it took the life of a 94-year-old woman. The woman, identified as Dorothy Evans, was found in the charred remains of her home near 86th Street and North Delaware.
Sperry, Turley and Owasso fire departments put out the blaze.
Tulsa, OK – Tulsa woman found dead, police seek her vehicle
TULSA, Okla. (AP) Tulsa police say a woman has been found dead in her west Tulsa home and her vehicle is missing.
Police said Friday that 65-year-old Paula Bogle was found shortly before 1 a.m. Friday by the owner of the home who was renting it to Bogle. Police say Bogle's body has trauma to the neck that may be from stab wounds.
Detectives are now searching for Bogle's dark blue Chevrolet HHR that is missing from the residence.
Tulsa, OK – The Tulsa City Council votes to make over one-point-one million dollars in budget transfers. It does not end the furloughs for city employees or restore cuts to the fire department. Councilor Bill Christiansen says that needs to be done. Christiansen wants the council to consider such a proposal after the new year.
The council also approved a contract to privatize the operation of the Tulsa Zoo.
Oklahoma City, OK – Oklahoma board to make retirement system payment
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The state Board of Education will take the $18 million it planned to use to pay for teachers' health insurance costs and apply it toward the teachers' retirement system.
The board voted 4-3 Thursday to make the move after Attorney General Drew Edmondson said in a formal opinion that the board was violating the law by not making a required $35 million contribution to the Oklahoma Teachers' Retirement System.
Sand Springs, OK – Police search for missing Oklahoma pastor
SAND SPRINGS, Okla. (AP) Police in Sand Springs are searching for a long-time local pastor who has disappeared.
Police said in a news release Thursday that 58-year-old David Wayne Emigh was reported missing Wednesday by his wife. Assistant Police Chief Mike Carter says Emigh left Word of Life Fellowship Church about 11 a.m. Wednesday to return to his home for a book and hasn't been seen since.
Tulsa, OK – A reprieve for the residents at the Somerset East Apartment complex near the old Eastland Mall. The city will delay cutting off the water to the complex until January 3rd. It was to have been cut off today because the complex owner is about 70-thousand dollars past due on his water bill. The residents are thankful for the city's action, but furious at the complex's out of state owner.
