Police Service Cut-Backs

Tulsa, OK – Due to the recent reductions in staffing, the Tulsa Police Department has
been forced to evaluate ways to maintain the staffing levels in order to
respond to priority 911 calls. As a result, the department has temporarily
suspended responding to certain property crimes and report calls.

Tulsa, OK – Tulsans hear from former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. She made two stops in Tulsa today. She made stops at ORU's Mabee Center and at a luncheon at the Southern Hills Marriott. Rice received a standing ovation after being introduced by Mayor Bartlett at O-R-U.

Oklahoma City, OK – A measure to allow school districts to use state textbook allocations for instructional expenses passed the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Education Wednesday. Sen. Gary Stanislawski said Senate Bill 1784 would help school districts struggling financially due to budget cuts.

Arson Fire at Warner

Warner,OK – Arson fire damages Warner arena

WARNER, Okla. (AP) State fire officials say a blaze that heavily damaged an all-purpose arena in Warner was deliberately set.

The fire erupted at the RangeLine Arena before dawn on Tuesday. The flames were so intense, they burned through the metal roof and warped the beams of the 46,400 square-foot building, which hosts everything from motorcycle races to rodeo events.

Hurricane heavy on defense with 18 defensive players of 26 total signees
Tulsa, Oklahoma -- On national letter-of-intent signing day, The University of Tulsa inked 22 newcomers to go along with four signees from the December signing period for a total class of 26 student-athletes, it was announced today by Head Football Coach Todd Graham.

Fatal Wreck near Berryhill

Tulsa, OK – The Oklahoma Highway Patrol spent Wednesday afternoon investigating an head-on crash near Berryhill. The accident happened on the Gilcrease Expressway near west 51st street. The Highway Patrol says one of the cars crossed the center line and plowed head-on into the oncoming vehicle.

The Patrol says one person was killed and two others were taken to the hospital. One of the injured was in critical condition, the other had less serious injuries.

High School Bible Classes

Oklahoma City, OK – Bible could be coming to public high schools

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) High schools across the state could begin offering an elective course in the study of the Bible under a measure approved by a Senate committee.

The Appropriations Subcommittee on Education on Wednesday passed the bill. It now goes to the full Appropriations Committee.

Oklahoma City, OK – Chief medical examiner placed on paid leave

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) The Board of Medicolegal Investigations has placed Oklahoma's chief medical examiner on administrative leave, pending the outcome of an investigation.

The board placed Dr. Collie Trant on paid leave during a three-hour special meeting on Monday.
