BOSTON (AP) — Lawyers for Boston mobster James "Whitey" Bulger are due in federal court to update a judge on the exchange of pre-trial evidence.
Bulger, the former leader of the notorious Winter Hill Gang, was also an FBI informant against the Mafia. The 83-year-old Bulger is awaiting trial for his alleged role in 19 killings, including the Tulsa death of Roger Wheeler.
His lawyers have complained for months that the large volume of documents in the case will make it difficult for them to be ready for Bulger's scheduled trial in March.
BOSTON (AP) — A federal judge has ruled that the family of one of James "Whitey" Bulger's alleged victims can continue with a federal lawsuit against FBI agents who monitored the mobster while he was an informant.
U.S. District Judge William Young said in a ruling issued Thursday that a lawsuit by Michael Donahue's family against agents can continue despite of an appeals court ruling that dismissed a claim against the federal government because the statute of limitations had expired.
BOSTON (AP) — The brother of one of reputed mobster James "Whitey" Bulger's alleged murder victims says he's been told by a representative for federal prosecutors in Boston that Bulger's girlfriend Catherine Greig (Grehg) is considering pleading guilty to helping Bulger evade capture. Steven Davis tells The Boston Globe a federal victim advocate told him Friday that Greig's lawyers indicated she's considering pleading guilty without a plea bargain and prosecutors asked victims' relatives to meet with them Monday. WCVB-TV first reported Davis's comments.
