Zoo Gets Ready to Waltz

Tulsa Zoo

It’s almost time for the Tulsa Zoo’s signature fundraiser, WALTZ on the Wild Side presented by Senior Star. The event, set for 7 p.m. on Friday, June 19, at the zoo, will feature cuisine from 40 of the finest area restaurants, and offer guests an opportunity to experience unique animal encounters.

Join the zoo as the adventure continues during the 25th year of WALTZ. Guests are invited to put the Tulsa Zoo’s annual fundraiser on their itinerary to celebrate voyages past and present. This year, WALTZ’s theme will focus on travel and adventure. The zoo will transform into a far-away destination where guests can refill their cocktails at drink stations across the continent.

To beat the heat during the evening, cooling stations and fans will be placed around the gala. Guests can dance on an air-conditioned dance floor while they enjoy live music from Professor D.

New this year is a special online prize raffle, including four prize packages. The packages include a trip to San Diego, date nights for a year, rounds of golf at some of Tulsa’s top courses and a custom jewelry experience. Raffle tickets are $50 a piece and can only be bought online at www.waltzonthewildside.org. Tickets are limited and participants must purchase their tickets prior to WALTZ day on June 19. The winners will be announced the night of WALTZ, but winners do not have to be present to win.

Standing for “We All Love the Tulsa Zoo,” WALTZ on the Wild Side will benefit the zoo’s capital campaign, Building Beyond Your Wildest Dreams, which launched in 2012. Building Beyond supports the zoo's 20-year master plan. WALTZ 2014 raised $180,522 for the zoo’s capital campaign.

In the past 25 years, these exceptional WALTZ evenings have generated millions of dollars for many exhibits that zoo guests know and love, including the Chimpanzee Connection, Elephant Demonstration Yard, Helmerich Sea Lion Cove and the Mary K. Chapman Rhino Reserve.

WALTZ on the Wild Side is a 21-and-up event. Individual tickets for WALTZ start at $125 for Tulsa Zoo Friends members and $150 for not-yet-members. Sponsorships are available, starting at $1,000. Visit www.waltzonthewildside.org or call 918-669-6614 for more information.
