Wrong Man

By Associated Press

Stillwater, Oklahoma – Former soldier Shawn Dunbar of Stillwater says a case of mistaken identity that resulted in his arrest for an assault in Junction City, Kan., has interrupted his VA benefits for an ailment stemming from his war service in Iraq.

The Oklahoman newspaper reports that the 25-year-old Dunbar was arrested April 27 and sent to Kansas to face the charge against him there. But the victim of the assault in Junction City said that he knew authorities had arrested the wrong man when he saw Dunbar outside a Kansas courtroom, and the Stillwater man was freed.

But Dunbar said that, in the meantime, the federal government cut off his veteran's disability benefits and asked him to pay for treatment he had already received for post-traumatic stress.
