Work Slow Down in TPS Begins Today

File photo

Today begins 'phase one' of the teacher protest over wages in the state. Educators will begin “working to contract” today in the Tulsa Public Schools. That means they will only work the seven hours and 50-minutes for which they are compensated.

It is part of a protest over low wages. Teachers have not had a pay hike in over a decade and are the lowest paid in the nation.

'Phase two' is a teacher walkout set for April 2nd, if lawmakers don't approve a pay hike. Teachers want $10,000 over three years.
