Tulsa, Oklahoma – By now, many of us are painfully aware that Oklahoma's female-incarceration numbers are (far and away) the worst in the nation. On this edition of StudioTulsa, we learn about a program in our community that is working to change this. It's a pilot program known as Women in Recovery; it began about two years ago. A co-creation of Family & Children's Services and the George Kaiser Family Foundation, Women in Recovery offers alternatives to incarceration for female non-violent offenders throughout Tulsa County. Our guests today --- who tell us all about Women in Recovery, including how and why it works --- are Mimi Tarrasch (the Director of Special Projects at Family & Children's Services, which oversees Women In Recovery) and Heather Langley (who works as a Women in Recovery Career Coach at ResCare Workforce).
