Undated – Freezing rain, snow in Okla. blamed for 3 deaths

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) Authorities are attributing three traffic deaths to a winter storm that brought freezing rain and snow to Oklahoma.

The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 70-year-old Jackie W. Bean died after his pickup truck went off an icy U.S. 70 and rolled, throwing Bean out of the vehicle about 8:20 a.m. yesterday.

Troopers also reported that 37-year-old Michael Todd Buffham died at about 3:15 a.m. when the tractor-trailer rig he was driving went off U.S. 283 and overturned near Cheyenne. The patrol also said 47-year-old Jerry Gagnon of Overbrook died after the sport utility vehicle he was driving skidded off U.S. 77 near Ardmore and overturned.

Oklahoma Gas and Electric no longer reported outages late yesterday afternoon, and only about 100 outages were still being reported by Public Service Company of Oklahoma.
